Jamie received her Bachelor's of Science in Nursing from Queens University of Charlotte (2005). She then relocated to Chapel Hill, NC where she cared for pediatric cardiology patients at the North Carolina Children's Hospital. While in Chapel Hill she earned her Master's of Science in Nursing and became a Certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner in Primary Care (CPNP-PC). Jamie was an inaugural member of the UNC Newborn Nursery Nurse Practitioner Service where she cared for newborns for over 10 years. After struggling with breastfeeding her first child she viewed the world of Breastfeeding Medicine in a new light! It was then she became passionate about truly supporting, serving, encouraging, and advocating for new moms, their partners, and their newborns during their "Happy Crisis of the 4th Trimester." Jamie became an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant in 2015. She has experience with inpatient newborn breastfeeding medicine as well as outpatient lactation consultations where she collaborates with community Pediatricians addressing weight loss, ineffective breastfeeding/latch, tongue tie, and caring for preterm infants and multiples. She laughs that after having late preterm twins in 2019 she has actually experienced every facet of breastfeeding she can think of which allows her to truly relate to her patients/families. Jamie founded Joyous Chaos (formally Lavender Lactation) in 2020 when moving to the Valley. After she became the coordinator of her own Joyous Chaos by raising three children during a global pandemic, it seemed appropriate to rebrand. Joyous Chaos offers expertise and experience in all things newborn and feeding related, not just lactation.
